I am a worrier and at a recent parents evening about my Z (5 years) was informed that she was not asking how and why questions although she does given the right structure/questions at home. Also she struggles with writing and holding a pen with the correct grip despite being able to trace the letters and recognise them although she confuses similar looking letters eg b d p q could she be dyslexic /dyspraxic, as there is a family history of both and does not asking questions mean she is not very bright? am I worrying too soon.

Did you see my reply on your other thread, purpledolphin?

Go with your gut instinct, if you feel there is something wrong then push for answers. You know your child best (better than any teacher).

Hi lou30125,
Thanks for your reply I am some what reassured, she responds reasonably well to how and why questions and I find that she is quite good company. I think its a great idea to make an appointment with the teacher but I feel uncomfortable asking just 1 week after parents evening. Definitely next parents evening I will ask is this within the normal range ( which I should have done last week). I think they high-lighted the EYFS score for knowledge and understanding as a worry but my DH thought that she was saying that our DD was doing ok with just one or two areas for development Thanks again for your help .
