A good spinal consultant needed - any suggestions?

My son has cerebral palsy and has developed scoliosis very quickly. He now has a 50 degree curve in his spine. We are under Alder Hey hospital but the spinal consultant had a heart attack and the new one is only part time. Getting an appointment is a nightmare - I have had 2 cancelled recently. His back probably needs operating on, but I would like a second opinion first. Does anyone know of a (really) good consultant, or even how to go about finding one?
Thanks
Nat

My DD had a cystic tumour appear on her spinal cord (she has spina bifida occulta), it was removed by an amazing surgical team at Sheffield Children's, Mr Zaki/Mr Patak.

Good luck

I think we are going to go with Sheffield Children's Hospital. Have found 2 consultants there who seem to fit our son perfectly!
Thanks everyone for your help.
