Ds neuro is stumped ds has low muscle tonesevere hypermoblity but his reflexes are over strong which actually sent his thighs into spasms withnessed by the neuro

he said combination of the 2 is unusal and without the low musle tone the reflex and spasms would be making him wonder cp but then the low muscle tone does not fit.

anyone any advice ds is. Going be booked on for MRI and a whole host of blood tests but wonder if any mn can help

Sounds unusual to my non professional brain. My dd has low tone with muscle fluctuations to high at times. When she was a baby her reflexes were too strong which we were told was an indication of CP. She doesn't have CP though so we are equally confused

I guess an MRI would tell you where/if there is any injury or damage. I believe there are some forms of CP that are just very low tone but I may be wrong?

DS2 has CP, spastic diplega but has generalised low tone, so he is floppy but with (mildly) tight legs, his spasticity is only present with movement & he has some days better than others.
As a family we also tend to have hypermobility, causes the rest of us no problems other than being a bit clumsy & bendy.
ds2's physio recons a natural genetic tendancy towards flexible joints has helped maintain a good range of movement but adds to his clumsiness.
So he is a bit of a mixed up bag!

thank you

He's already told me that there is going be some brain damage to areas of his brain that controll motor skills and speech but this I already knew

yes the hypermoblity is in my family to but ds is badly affected dr can bend his foot up so his toes touch his shins yet when dr tapped him ds almost kicked him in face as he was not expecting that

is it possiable be high tone say thighs but low tone on lower legs

DS2'S ankles roll over but his reflexes are very swift & jerky, so I guess you can have a complete mixture.
I suppose when there is brain damage any jumble of effects can be seen.

ds has dystonic cp, the muscle tone fluctuates, he is very floppy in the trunk and has rubbish head control, can be very flexible when relaxed but he is ridiculously strong in his limbs when a spasm kicks in, recently booted me back about a foot when i was trying to put his piedro boots on!
