right, DD1 has told me that some of the children in her school were being unkind to another child in her school. She said the child puts her hands over her ears and says "too loud, too loud" when sounds get too much. DD1 also mentioned her name. Now DD1 isnt part of the unkind lot, and I know this child has ASD, because I know her mum.
Now tomorrow, her mum said she might pop in for coffee, do i tell her this is happening?? I have only met her twice before. TIA

Yes. I'd want someone to tell me if this was happening to DD2 (she usually tells me herself though)

DD1 isnt normally fussed by much that happens to other children so im worried its got to be happening a lot if DD1 mentioned it (she is HFA), even if just in passing.

It's a difficult one but I would want to know if it was happening to my DD I think most mothers would. If you are struggling about how to approach it you could say something along the lines of "My DD told me etc... I thought I should let you know".

Oh yes, do!

I would mention it to the school because this mum is going to have lot of battles on her hand and the school will try and dismiss a lot of them. But for another mum to go in and voice concern it's showing the school and the teachers that this behaviour isn't acceptable. I have done it with a child in my dd's school as I don't always see the parents. School too easily dismisses parents as being overly sensitive to their child's needs. Other parents support means a great deal when sorting out issues with the school.

I would tell the school/head and hopefully they can sort it out and maybe contact the mother and explain what is happening.

What happened Lisa?

Do you know in what way they were unkind?

I had a recent similar experience - teacher friends urged me to go to the class teacher even before telling the other mum. I did this and it definitely turned out to be the right thing to do.

I did later tell the victim's mother, but only because she is a friend.

I think the teacher lent more weight to my testimony because I was telling her first - there was no question of my friend having asked me to back her up IYSWIM.

I would tell the other mother and report it to the school.

Other parents have told me a few times when their children have told them about incidents involving ds. Things which ds has not mentioned to me, he finds it difficult to explain especially events which have happened the day before.

Ds also often gets confused when trying to report things to teachers.

Shouting in ds's ears because they find his reaction funny, is something the kids in ds's school do.

well i caught her this morning, and she seemed ok about it, but said she will be having word at school.
We have had some trouble with school thhis week so need to battle them for DD1 too
