Holiday ideas wanted

Ok not exclusively sn but I need some inspiration!

I want to start sorting our summer holiday but looking for ideas....
We have a sporty sociable ds1 age 10 & a very unsociable ds2 with mild CP & ASD age 7.
DH likes a pint & i'm rather partial to a G&T so don't want to be in the middle of a field somewhere.
Actually camping is definately not an option.

I have about £1500 to spend on booking something for us in the summer holidays.

not a problem I know compared to all the other things many of you ahve going on, I just wondered what you found that works for your family x

Do you want UK or abroad?

anonandlikeit · 15/03/2010 20:08

don't mind really, if good value abroad would have a look, as long as travel not too prolonged.

Equally a good place in the UK would be just as good.

I wonder where ds2 gets his lack of decision making from

How about France?Or the Balearics? We are heading to Ibiza again I think. However we have an escape artist therefore middle of the countryside is ideal for us. Menorca? Prob cheaper doing a package to Menorca as flights are extortionate.

Centre parcs lots for ds1 to do ds2 can do as much as he likes or not we did the parks and swimming mostly

but ds1 and ds2 did climbing fencing archery and they loved the large sphere where you can walk across the lake inside

one in Suffolk is all reasonably flat to but pick your plot carefully or long walk

villas have everything you need in them including dishwasher in most .Was first time I felt like I had a holiday

ds3 highlight was the deer and ducks outside window every morning

was also going to suggest haven/butlins or centreparcs - not sure how far 1.5K will take you at centreparcs in height of summer.

Yes we went November last. Year comfort plus for 239 for 5 days which I thougt reasonable

Centre parcs may be a good plan, may need to up the budget, may be better/quieter a bit further away from the main area.
DS2 uses w/chair anyway so not bothered about distance, i'm guessing everywhere is w/chair friendly

I can recommend Centre Parcs. If your DS's like swimming the pool is good - also there would be lots of activities for your older DS. There are several places to eat and drink. Booking a villa on the edge of the park might suit your younger DS where it would be a little quieter. We are going again this year. I can't remember how wheelchair friendly it is I think some villas may have been adapted but I'm not 100 per cent sure.

Thanks Evie, think I might price it up, he is mobile, just uses a w/chair when out & about so wouldn't need an adapted villa.

Just remembered Haven give discount to familyfund extra members, so may ahve a look at them, although they always seem soooo busy!!
