Hi

Me and my DH have to choose this year what secondary school we want our DS to go to.

We were both adament that we wanted him to go to the feeder school from where his now even though it is an all boys catholic and he is not, but there are no guarnatees that he will get in, but......

After a meeting yesterday with his psychologist and mentor im now thinking that it may be in his best interest to send him to a school that has a really good special needs section and where there are more children like him and where there are teachers who understand him and his needs....the school he is at, at the moment have no idea how to deal with a child that is autistic and i am still fighting like mad to get him a statement.

I know that you cannot make my decision for me but i was just wondering i there are any Plymouth Mums out there with SN children who are in/been/going to be in this situation and can advise me on schools etc?

Thanks for reading this!

I don't really know, Nattynoos. We are just outside Plymouth and my DD who has special needs but physical in nature, is in Yr 7 at Tavistock College and my opinion of the SEN unit there is that is is great. But I know to go from Plymouth to Tavi may be impossible as it is over the unitary boundary! However, i do know a few SN mothers in Plymouth in same situation as me so will ask their view on your problem. I will post for you specifically if I discover anything.

Thank you so much Cloeila i would really appreciate that....and yes unfortunately to travel to Tavi everyday would be a feat in itself....we have major problems getting to school on time at the bottom of the hill!

Look forward to hearing from you!
