My Son was diagnosed with SPL in Novemeber 09. Are there any other mums out there who have children with the same disgosis?

It would be fantastic to speak to someone who 'get's it'

Hi have they given you any details as there's a wide range of specfic language disorders

I have a ds with sli. He has severe verbal and oral dyspraxia alongside DVD. Meaning his expressive language falls below 1%

yes..our son has just been dx with severe SLI..1%centile or less in all SALT tests ..he was dx this at 3yrs ..but since then nothing has been described as such in any statement ,so we thought he was getting better as he was refused assessement in language unit ,he is now on 20 hrs - If only i knew then what i know now -its all about MONEY - this has all come about as he is in yr 6 and we knew he would not cope in m/stream,and so have had all private reports done -lot of money but the best i haver ever spent ! now it has rollercoasted into him now being hopefully(??!!)admitted to residential school ,because he needs such intensive therapy.Weve been told he presents so well, in that he looks busy , whereas he is so anxious inside .We are still in shock about him living away if it comes to that ,but have to do best for him

My 8 yr old DS was diagnosed with an SLI when he was 4. He's made so much progress it's not really noticeable now. A DX is a good thing.

I was interested to read your message as our daughter is 11 and has SSLI. She is in Yr 6 but performing at Yr 2 Level. The SSLI has affected all her learning which is so frustrating for her and for us. Are you thinking of sending your child to Moor House School or are there other specialist schools in this country? At the moment, she has a place in mainstream school for secondary education but we're not sure this is the best place for her. She has a full statement and currently has a personal TA in class.

My daughter is achieving the same levels!!! She is socially quite immature compared to her peers. She looks "normal" and many people we meet are surprised to learn that she has learning difficulties. Her speech is still quite babyish and she often forgets what words she is looking for. Does this sound familiar?? I only discovered Moor House yesterday on the internet as her TA suggested we looked around for specialist schools with S&L facilities. The local special school she attended part time for 3 years doesn't actually have a speech therapist which seems a bit strange so probably not the best place for her to go if mainstream doesn't work out. Can the children come home at week ends from Moor House?
