Our provisional statement for DS1 has arrived (DS1 is almost 4, has CP and ASD, still in nappies and non-verbal but very bright, we picked an MS setting). They're offering 22.5 hrs with a learning assistant. DS1 needs to be reminded to continue with activities and needs help to eat, toilet, dress for PE, and to be monitored in group and play settings. Is this enough and should we stipulate X hrs of speech therapy a term?

The 22.5 hours probably means they expect the rest to come from the school's resources, but you can still have a go at challenging it. IPSEA might be able to help.

As Starlight rightly states I would run Parts 2 and 3 past IPSEA before agreeing to anything that the LEA has presented.

IPSEA's website is www.ipsea.org.uk

Other organisations worth contacting too are SOS;SEN and ACE.

Parts 2 and 3 are the most important parts on this document; these need to be bang on because once you agree to the statement those are damn nigh impossible to get altered.

Speech therapy should also be in Part 2; again challenge if it is not there.
If the provision offered is neither specified or quantified as required by law then it needs to be rejected.
