Any experience of cranial osteopathy and 3/4 year old?

My ds is 4 in July, has severely disordered speech and possible ASD. Had first multi-agency assessment and being obsevred via speech therapy and occupational therapy.
Anyway to cut a long story short, he had v traumatic birth (failed ventouse & failed forceps leading to badly cut face). I'm contemplating trying a cranial osteopath to see if it helps with any of his behavioural anxiety and terrible sleeping.
Has anyone tried a cranial osteopath for a child of similar age and had any luck?
Thanks
Jenny

my ds (3) has had 3 sessions of cranial osteopathy in the last month. He has possible Asd & ADHD & sensory sensitivities. His speech came on brilliantly. he only had a few words & after his 2nd session it was like a switch had been pressed. He started counting to ten & talking none stop. He now has about 30 words which is a big improvement. Head banging has also stopped which is brill. The osteopath also thinks that he will stop being sensitive to sound, but thats not happened yet.

I would defo reccommend it.

Best of luck xxxxxxxxxxx

I am doing it with my DS (4) with dyspraxia and probable ASD-mmm-difficult to say-sleeping never a problem anyway so wouldnt see an improvement-possibly slightly more chilled out after the session but not sure it has had a massive impact tbh-speech has improved but think this is more to do with speech therapy and reflex inhibition therpay thatn the cranial osteopathy.

I have heard of good results with sleeping in some children, although I always warn people not to expect it to be a miracle cure. DS (ASD) hated it and much preferred aromatherapy message and general relaxation techniques. DD (NT) also hated it, I took her for congested nose/chest, it had no beneficial effects and she hated it so much the therapist advised us to stop as it was counterproductive!

Highly recommenend it.
I started taking both Dds last summer, age 2 & 4. You need a chiropractor/cranial therapist who specialises in children. DD1 has dyspraxia, severe verbal dyspraxia etc and also had a quite traumatic birth. It has definately helped with her balance & posture, she is less fidgety and physically stronger. I also believe it stopped her bedwetting. I can't say it did anything for speech but she loves going so much and obviously knew it was helping her. Dd2 definately became more vocal though doesn't need so much therapy as she doesn't have the physical problems of DD1. She did have a very stiff neck, meaning she coudln't lift her arms up very easily and this has now been corrected.
I actually though the results were so good I started going myself

Thanks everyone - will definitely find someone locally. Don't suppose anyone knows of someone in the Staines/Windsor area?

We go to an excellent one in Chessington if noone can recommend one nearer to you?

Highly recommend cranial, it's worked wonders on DD2!

Hi Janny
DD1 had an awful birth - 5 long days in labour and failed ventouse followed by forceps.
We started cranial about a year ago. Dd1 used to wake in the night and bang her head for hours. Within weeks she was sleeping through the night, she started growing, was generally happier (much less head banging during the day), her glue ear has cleared up and she started talking!
TBH I don't really understand how it all works, but DD1 loves going and he progress has been unreal.
