Background.

I have 4 children, 2 with disabilities, DS1 has CP, DD1 has CP, ADHD and LD. I also have Dd2 and DS2.

DD2 is the one we are having huge problems with, she is sooo angry all the time. She is 8 and I have had enough, we have tried all the normal stuff, sticker charts, time out, removing treats, etc etc.

Yesterday morning she was refusing to get dressed (again) and I bent down to go to her level, removed her hands from her eyes, to talk calmly with her, and she hit me. After school she started to strop, I said to stop or she would not be allowed to go to youth club tonight, she carried on. I said 'no youth club' which then produced the major strop, over 1 hour of slamming doors, banging on the floor, screaming etc etc, I had such a headache by the end of it.

She beats up her siblings all the time, I have to remove her from the room about 10 times a day. She just seems so angry and I don't know what to do. My sister said to take her to the GPs, but I am unsure if its my parenting or not. I am actually finding her behaviour much more harder than DD1, who has ADHD

I still think visit to GP and request a referal to CAMHT would be good but also know a course that might be good local to you on parenting, life skills, self esteem and postive disapline. Sounds terrible but its a course I deliver at work and it is a really great one, even stuff they suggested i came home and use.
I tried to call ya but your gassing on the phone again

Our non-disabled children can get a rough ride sometimes. I find DS2 very stroppy, like a complete Kevin the Teenager and I sometimes wonder if it is linked to him having a disabled brother, or if it is because he is just stroppy (like I was at that age) They say challenging behaviour is communication, so what is she trying to communicate by all this? Why not take her to the GP's and get her referred to CAMHS. Our children deserve a bit of attention sometimes and it might help you get to the root of the problem
