I think it's good that now there's money and mainstream scientists looking at gut bacteria. And mentioning autism as well. When ds1 was diagnosed 8 years ago it was a complete no no to mention guts and autism to mainstream doctors - I remember his paed rolling his eyes about ds1 being on a gluten free diet (his paed was a bit of a dinosaur though).

I knew it had changed (when we saw the neuro recently the paed there talked about various diets) but I think the article emphasises the change in thinking.

s shame that people are not advised to cut out gluten and casein for a period and see if it makes a difference...
you have to sort it out for yourself...

yes, but seeing this report does make me think it's becoming more mainstream so maybe in 10 years time there will be more attention paid to the gut of an autistic child (and maybe even more attention will be paid to antibiotic use although that has changed since ds1's early years as well)
