Hi Im hoping for some advice on this one as I am really worried about it.

We have DD1 (4 yrs) and DD2 (15 months). DD2 at some point during her birth had a lack of oxygen and hence was born in a terrible state but luckily survived the ordeal. She now has quite severe cerebral palsy and developmental delay in all areas. We've received really good care since she was born (the cynical part of me thinks because they know it was their fault !!), and we are lucky to have good links to a support team - physio, OT and SALT mainly. Also now on waiting list for portage. But am now concerned as we really want to move from Southampton up to North Hants / Surrey border, but really worried that we are being nieve to think that we can get all the help we are getting now. We are happily in "the system" but how easy is it to get into a different system?

But I think its now or never. DH commutes for 4 hours every day and I really need him to travel less and help me at home more. Also think it would be good to do it now before DD1 starts school. But we must do the right thing by DD2. What do you think???

I feel I will never be able to move while DS is at home as we have fought for years to receive the decent respite package we have now. I don't feel the same about Health services as I don't get many of those where I am.

You'll need to do some exploratory work and check out whether there is an organisation for parents of disabled children in the place you want to move to, who can advise you on what services there are and even put you in touch with other parents? Or phone the child development centre - or similar - and ask them what services they provide?

Oh my post last night was totally useless, I'm sorry, just wanted to offer support.

I agree with dd, it is well worth researching the help available in order to put your mind at rest.

Don't forget to check out Sure Start centres, ours has an excellent multi-sensory room and various other activities which are suitable for a child of 2.9 with ASD. You might be really lucky in the new area

Omg sorry Im new to this site, and only just sussed out how to reply!!

Thanks for your advice and you both mention organisations that I hadn't thought of that could give me some info regarding services, so thanks for that.

Currently I am just blowing hot and cold on this on a daily basis - up for it during the day, then waking up at 4am thinking no way !!

i think where ever you go there are good services in some areas and crap in others, i think if hubby is around more then that is a very positive move as no one governs that one ! but i would look at schools and check out the local lea - if ness ask on here what the lea is like in that area or local services - the mums will tell you the real deal !

good luck
