Happy mum moment!

Happy mum moments have been few and far between, recently, so this one has really warmed my heart.

DS2 (3, ASD, non-verbal, but beginning to find a voice - a wonderfully loud voice!) has been staying for lunch at nursery, while DS1 is on his half days, so I can pick them up together. He's really been enjoying it, which bodes well for when he starts reception in September, so that's really reassuring to me, anyhow. He's actually begun to run up to me and greet me when I arrive, though, which is wonderful. Today was the best. He cheered and clapped when I arrived and ran towards me. In over 6 years of parenting and 3 years of collecting one child or another from that room, I've never had such a happy, enthusiastic greeting!

Of course, I still had to go straight afterwards and carry a resistant DS1 out of the building, but I can't have it all ways. I should just be grateful that he let me cut his hair for the first time since August, this afternoon!

Lovely

Lovely! It took until school age for DS2 to look pleased to see me - he used to run away from me when i went to pick him up from nursery!

that's brilliant.

He's become so expressive over the past 6 months. I'm really enjoying it!

Of course, I was totally blanked by him, today. He was more interested in a Spot book that had somehow ended up under the climbing tower! His LSA said he had been a bit tired and clingy, though.

When I went to pick DS2 up for the dentist today (not something that bothers him)he did this sort of dismissive flapping gesture at me with his hand and said 'seeyoulater'

I get that off DS2 when i drop him off at nursery. I barely have time to kiss him and he's off. If he sees I haven't gone, he ushers me away!

Yes same here! His 1:1 meets him at the door, he grabs her hand and pulls her down the corridor. If she waits to speak to me, he's off like a rocket by himself . He might deign to make a kissing noise over his shoulder if i'm very very lucky...

I'm pleased really - much rather than than being unhappy about going in.
