Pushchair for 3+ yr old

Could anyone recommend a good, solid pushchair for an older child?
My dd has low muscle tone and loses her balance a lot. She likes walking but tires easily and I think we'll need a pushchair for at least a few more years yet. I've tried various strollers but she's really too heavy and I have a back problem which means I struggle to push her.

Would be grateful for any suggestions/recommendations

Ask for a referral to OT!

We got a Maclaren Major for home and a wheelchair for school for my dd (who isn't allowed to walk due to a hip condition) with very little fuss - but our OT department is fabulous.

I like the Maclaren - I know some people don't but it is great for us and even at agt 6+ I have no bother pushing her. If you have a back problem ask the OT to help you find something that will be easy for you to push as well - it's their job!

Hi Weegiemum
We have OT and physio but the pushchair issue hasn't come up I think probably because dd walks quite well on the whole so I'm not sure we would be entitled to anything.

I think we just need something for another few years until she's (hopefully)developed the strength to walk longer distances.

We use a Jane powertrack for dd2 (4) i can fit dd1 (6) in it.

this

We also have a Mclaren buggy but dd2 is getting to big for it.

I think Maclaren major will be your best option as designed to fit a child up to 12 years old. OT can usually organise them otherwise £200 new or can get them cheaper on ebay.

Thanks I like the look of the Jane Powertrack - on limited budget so will wait for one to come up on ebay!

just watch the weight limit on the Jane, i gave ds's old one which was barely used as it didnt support him well enough to my friend for her ds who was 16kg and he'd broken the backrest bit within a few months! it also doesnt fold as small as the umbrella folding maclaren

minty, DD1 is very like your dd - low tone, loses balance, tires easily, but very mobile. Our OT has referred to wheelchair services for a Maclaren, so you should ask. DD1 is 4.1.
