Starting to get worried about dd1 (6), she's always been a picky eater (lives on pizza, chips, smiles and sausages), she will not touch Veg or any meat (other than a sausage). Up until now she has always looked healthy but skinny, since the summer she seems to have been ill 2 times a month (mainly with colds and temps), in the past few days she has look really pale and her eyes are slightly sunken. She was off of school last week with a cold and now D&V is going around the school (maybe she's coming down with this?).

She's also very constipated which must be making her feel rough, she poo's every day but its like rabbit poo (sorry if TMI).

I'm worried that she's not getting enough iron as she refuses to eat veg or red meat, she will eat fruit (mainly berries) but is only really eating 1 portion a day.

I give her multi Vit tablets but these don't contain Iron. Is it possible to get iron supliment for children?

Should i be taking her to the GP to ask for advice?

Which are the best suplements/vit to give her?

ds1 has animal parade vits which do contain iron. They are free from alot of crap as well. Dont know if you can get them in normal shops i get them online. Ds1 likes them and often wants another one.He also has the strawberry omega 3 chews.

Thank you, i will have a look at 'Animal parade', she has been taking Tesco multi vits but i don't think they contain Iron.

She wont touch baked beans as she wont eat anything in a sauce , she would probably drink smoothies.

I managed to find some vits in Boots today but when i tasted them they tasted horrid so i'm not sure if she will eat them.

We have some cast iron pans .

we asked to see a dietician as we didn't want to start giving supplements without advice - the SALT and dietician run a joint feeding clinic for ASD and reassured us that DS gets what he needs - however he does eat 2-3 weetabix a day, apparently you can get nearly everything you need from weetabix. Most breakfast cereals will be fortified with iron

grumpy- thats interesting about the weetabix (thats one of the things she will eat). We have seen a out of hours GP today as dd1 was poorly yesterday and this morning (off colour, slight temp), he thinks she might have anemia but would not do a blood test today, we have to take her in monday to see our GP and maybe run some tests.
