Special pens to help with poor handwriting?

Hey all,

Thought I would attempt this question here before spending hours on the phone trying to get a list of suppliers from the Educations Phsycologist!

DS1 (7) Has just had a Ed Phsyc report done and it has been reccomended that we get him some special pens which will help him.

Anyone any ideas where we would find these pens? I have had a quick google and not come up with anything so far!

TIA

I bought a Stabilo S'move Easy pen from WH Smith for DS. It has helped a little, although a lot of his problems with writing are more about organisation and abstract thinking, so it still hasn't encouraged him to write lots!

Thanks Sugar! I am going to take him into town after school and get him a few to try and see which one he feels comfortable with.

Are you looking for pens or pencils?

My son is a junior and uses a pencil. We found pens, but couldnt find pencils until i googled occupational therapy pencils and found a really good company called "OT ideas, inc" its an american company, that specialise in occupational therapy resources to support education. They are well worth a look, they do left and right handed pencils, thick and thin pencils and rubber triangle things for pens/pencils, writing rests, etc. Even with shipping, the cost is very reasonable, Ive used them a few times over the past year, they are very good, i havent had any problems and their delivery is prompt. Good luck.

Stabilo S'moove also do a pencil, although I don't seem able to buy the replacement leads for it now. Anyone know if I can get them online anywhere? I can get the pen refills from WHSmiths but they've stopped doing the pencil ones.

Pelikan is an alternative. There is another really quirky brand too, Yoropen. The S'move pencil is a pita , always seems blunt, needs it specific sharpener (which ds lost within 2 weeks) and wastes lead although our local stationers stocks them. This site has all 3.
