please don't read if you are easily upset

:(

As a parent whose child needs 24 hour care, it just makes me worry to death. Poor, poor woman

Jeeze, its horrifying!

A basic, basic care error, not to test bathwater!

We too will one day have to contemplate 24 hour care if dd2 lives to adulthood. It scares me.

thats my worry for ds too, he has no siblings, (he will have a half sibling in a few months time but im not sure how that will work out yet) two cousins in Herefordshire who he sees maybe once a year and my sisters son who is 4 years younger so apart from him theres no one to look after ds's best interests once im away

glittery · 22/01/2010 15:22

maybe we should all go live in a SN commune!

I worked in a few care homes many eyars ago (Psych,LD and elderly) and forstly, wtf didnt they have a thermostat to prevent thre water gettting too hot? That'salways been the norm, water at the correct temp straight from a tap.

More widely though, although I have worked in a few excellent units,I really wish I had never, ever worked in the field at all seeing as ds3 is going to need some kind of lifelong care. I'll have ds3 with me aslong as poss, but though he is a walkie talkie he's way too vulnerable and unless something seriously changed with his asd independence isn't a possibility

Scares the shite out of me and I have this horrid feeling that themost important thing I can dofor ds3 (be immortal) is the one thing I cannot

Sad
Jimmychasesducks · 22/01/2010 19:08

just saw this on the news, it is horrific, and scared me

MavisEnderby · 22/01/2010 21:56

OMG that is horrific.

dd has very limited speech and learning disabilities that mean she is dependent on others for her needs totally.

Stuff like this makes me want to cry
