Nursery thrilled with DS2's progress

DS2 (now 4.4)'s teacher is reporting that he is playing in an age-appropriate way with his peers at nursery, using lots of language, and regularly putting his hand up to answer questions (!).

It's only 14 months since Bradford Council were so concerned with his severe receptive language problem and completely withdrawn behaviour that they themselves were telling me to apply for a Statement asap.

Needless to say, my views on allowing kids with SN in language and social communication to repeat their nursery year are stronger than ever.

It's silly but I just feel numb. I think I stopped allowing myself to feel anything about any "official" report so long ago that even good ones can't get through to me.

Wow, that is such good news for you. I'm sure you have worked hard to get to this stage.

I know you can end up receiving so much information about your child that it ends up washing over you sometimes but let this one sink in!!

thanks debs

I think the old "me" could have just whooped and said "hurray, everything's going to be alright!" but I'm not really that person any more IYSWIM. This "your child has SN" lark changes you.....

Well done Little Lingle. Fab news.

I agree with this 'SN changes you' statement. DS2 was 'normal' by end of nursery, regressed when started school and they were worried about him. Gave him a few more weeks and after the half-term, he was 'a different child' in a positive way. Still does not make me think 'hoorah, all his problems have gone'. Just makes me think 'Ah, peace, until the next issue'
