Asda are selling distracter toys for those whose DC find them beneficial. I bought loads yesterday, they are pricing £1 and £2 so not breaking the bank.

What are distractor toys? I noticed they were selling those squidgy sensory catapillar like toys and squidgy balls - also £1/£2 as part of a large range of pocket money toys. Have bought up some for ds too.

Another one we've found useful is a fold up ruler from Tesco (80p) it's brightly coloured with big numbers and folds up concertina style, so small enough for ahandbag. It's got me out of many a tricky situation!

Thats what they are Magso. We call them twiddlers in my house

I'll have to invest in a few of those TDD. I currently have salad tongs in my bag, keeps ds2 occupied/distracted for a bit.

Hi have you every tried tangles, they are really popular for children with autism. Great fiddle toy. Check out www.learningspaceni.co.uk an educational toy shop, they have loads of ideas for children with particular needs. Think they even have a large one. Hope this helps!

Recently ordered silver metal tangle & smiley yellow squeezy ball that looks exactly like this: (handy emoticon there!)from
www.thetrainingshop.co.uk. They have different types of tangles (smooth ones, textured), balls of all colours designs & sizes, kooshes (those rubbery hairy things)etc in their stress products range. Ordered by phone & got them the next day.

Also, sometimes The Works sell Tangle toys. i got a couple in there really cheap. DS seems to prefer the tesco rulers, but think that's because he loves numbers LOL
