I know the feeling . Hope you're not too stressed, if you need a natter, I'm here lol.

i know Loudlass we spend so much time ringing them back when we should be looking after our kids! one pead telling us one thing an other telling us different but yet they met regularly why don't they talk to each other , instead of us having to retell every time then fond out months later its not been done what makes it worse is our dd life as been took out of our hands they say no one can have her unless they trained to feed ,watch her so on, and if she chokes its our fault (as been told we can not give lumps) we only do on a good day.

thanks for letting me vent!

i know how you feel, i'm sat here waiting for a phone call to sort out dd's statement for sept, i have a feeling it won't be sorted in time in which case i will be keeping her at home with me.

Marne we just done our draft today for dd statement,

trace- i havn't got a clue what im doing with regards to the statement, i posted a letter last week to start the ball rolling and now i'm waiting for them to phone (as they phoned when i was doing the school run and dh doesn't even have a clue what a statement is). They don't make these things easy, if it wasn't for MN i wouldn't even have known that dd2 needs a statement.

And i have the joy of dd2's 3.5 year check tomorrow at the GP's (which will be fun).

trace2 · 19/01/2010 16:35

so sorry why do they do this its just dont seem right how it all works!

They finally phoned, they only wanted to know the name of dd2's SALT and pead. I only wrote to them on friday so i am pleased with the speed they have got back to me in. Lets hope they are as fast at sorting the statement out.

CardyMow · 19/01/2010 18:08

I've found out that I spend almost £100 a MONTH on phone credit ringing these people back! and FFS she's your child, not the medical profession's!! Makes me so when they take over like that! (I've seen it with one of my friend's DS's). I'm (next week, after appt at the school to fill in the CAFS form) about to embark on the statementing process for DD (have tried 3 times before, without school backing and got nowhere, this time school are backing me so am a bit more hopeful...) Am not looking forward to it.

trace2 · 19/01/2010 19:02

glad they phoned back, portage today said we should here back in two weeks with a big form to fill in .

Loudlass i have now got free calls for 0845 number as that what now our peads number are.
i just wrote out dd letter for and added her peads its 19 of them bloody hell, and i not started on her symptoms lol.

and dont worry we can hold each other hands when we need it .

loudlass re your comment;

"I've found out that I spend almost £100 a MONTH on phone credit ringing these people back!"

I assume that you are on a mobile pay as you go plan and that you are calling 0845 and 0870 numbers?

There is a way to make these calls cheaper.

Example - if you are on Orange then the price for these calls is 40p per minute
(see page 17 here - but if you register with 18185.co.uk then you can be given a special landline number to ring and you'd be charged a one off 5p connection fee by 18185 and then charged 3p per minute by 18185 for the call to the 0845/0870 number. Your mobile provider would then charge you for calling the special landline number - this may be part of your free calls - or eg for some orange plans it is 20p per minute.

If you are calling from a landline (eg I have a BT phone line but prefix numbers I dial with 18185 to get the cheaper rate).

This should almost half your call costs and if you get free weekday calls to landlines will massively cut your bills.

You can see more info about this type of thing on the money saving expert website.

(BTW as I said on a previous post in this topic I am just lurking here and feeling humbled by all you do/go through with your DCs and felt moved to post and share this information.)

Yup, I'm on a PAYG phone - with orange- but I have found that some places don't have alternative landline numbers, mine and DD's neuro's eg. Winds me up beyond belief that these people make money off people with disabilities/medical conditions. Can't get a landline as an ex-p left me with a phone debt, now paid off, but as I'm the only person who has lived in this house, there's no existing phone-line, and no-one will let me have one without an evilly high deposit due to crap credit rating! I may try that thing you're on about, it seems like it would at least half the call costs.
