Would you prefer a kick or hugs. Can happily provide either. I am feeling terribly positive at the moment, probably because I've gone back to work and I have two days a week of NOT worrying about DD!
Did something kick you off or just one of those bad weeks? Come on, you know you can tell us...

Oh just reading the professionals reports on DS which all seem so negative. I am usually very positive but finding it difficult to read about what he can't do rather than what he can do.
(DS is 3 by the way and being assessed for ASD).

So kick me up the butt as hard as you can!! Will feel better tomorrow.

It's very hard - I find reports like that are like a kick in the stomach every time. But they have to focus on the negative points if your DC is going to get help

PPut it away in a file ( a big one, there will be more to follow)and forget for the momnet. And have a drink.

cyberseraphim · 14/01/2010 20:05

I used to think that the negativity would help DS1 get more help but sometimes I wonder if maybe if it is more of an advance pre justification for not helping him - if he sounds to a complete outsider like a basket case, it can make any representations sound like our old friend 'denial'. Oh well that has not really lightened the mood !

I hate reports - but I'd also prefer the people who write the reports not to sugarcoat the pill, IYSWIM.
Bad reports=maybe we'll get a statement, is what I keep telling myself

cyberseraphim · 14/01/2010 20:08

Sorry hope 'basket case' is not offensive - I don't normally put things like that (I hope) - I think I was thinking like a professional !

waitingforgodot · 14/01/2010 20:15

no thats ok! You have not offended me, you actually made me laugh cyber!

I questioned some of the reports as they did seem overly negative. I was told they had to be negative in order for the diagnostic team to take them seriously.
Think I will do what bubble2bubble says and stop reading them and go have a nice glass of wine
