Hate to ask this question as feel so cheeky applying for nything (my ds support coordinator for intergrated services keepstellig me off for it ) but am sooo desperate.

My mum drives us eveywhere for all out appointments ect (i cant drive am albino and partly sighted). DS really freaks out in tazi's clings to me crying moaning and by the time we get anywhere he is too destressed for anything to be observed ect.

any way long and short is her car keeps dying and there is no way it will even scrap through anmot. Tryed to get one on finance and they approved me then needed to have a drivers license (because it was a car) so all fell through . I have managed to save £1000 but wonered if it is worth applying to famuly fund so we can get something that is realiable and will last.

am so sorry to ask tis

Why don't you apply for driving lessons?? Then you could buy yourself a little run around car with your savings.

I don't think you should feel embarassed to apply, that is what family fund is there for.

I assume because of your medical condition you are not allowed to drive? I think you should apply. I know from experience that if you tell them your circumstances and exactly why you need the help, they can be really great! you have nothing to lose by asking. The worst that can happen is they can't help. They won't penalise you for asking and they won't think less of you.

good grief! why on earth would you feel cheeky? thats what its there for, and its a government run charity, us taxpayers are paying for it anyway.

and for goodness sake dont just limit yourself to the family fund. theres loads of charities out there you can apply to. granted its a bit of a pain filling in all the forms, but worth it i think.

buttle trust

new life charity

variety club

caudwell children

royal blind society

action for blind people

rnib

you will find them all online. state clearly what is required and why. enclose a letter of support from a professional.

apply to all! good luck!

would you be able to get a car on the motability scheme?
If you or your son get high rate mobility DLA, you could get a car and have your mum as the driver?
