Can anybody who uses this tell me if their lo had diarohea when they first started with it?

We started dd on it yesterday afternoon she has had 700ml since starting it (another 390 ml via pump tonight) and so far has had two very runny and VERY smelly nappies oh and her wee smells of vanilla!!

It totally out of ordinary for her as she normally constipated and only has a poo every other day so is it the paedisure or a tummy bug again! x

sometimes changing the milk causes runny poo, while the stomach gets used to it, is it paediasure fibre?

cloelia · 10/01/2010 19:43

don't remember dd having a problem when she started it but I'm sure your dd will get used to it. There are two types (at least) - the bottles have different animal logos, one has more fibre than the other so if you keep having a problem perhaps you could ask the dietician if the other type would suit your dd better. good luck. Or, slow pump down a bit??

leavingonajetplane · 10/01/2010 20:20

there are 4 types;
peadisure

peadisure plus (extra calories)

peadisure with fibre

peadisure plus with fibre

Also when you read the nutrional chart on the back the "peadisure plus with fibre" has a fairly different proportion of fibre to the "peadisure with fibre".

they could be a lot clearer with their labelling IMO

we had the opposite problem, got peadisure without fibre by accident and severe constipation resulted. i was told the one without fibre was designed for children with a short bowel- actually designed to stay in the system longer than usual.

hope this helps

DD (3.5) has paediasure since she was about 18 months. I don't think she had any tummy problems when she started.

janmumto5 · 11/01/2010 08:55

No more runny poo so think it was just her tummy adjusting :D thankyou xx

What kind of problems does your DD have? Mine just wasn't very interested in food/has hypotonia so until she was about 2 the effort involved in chewing/swallowing was a bit of a chore for her. Paediasure plus provided all the nutrients whilst she got more confident about eating solids. Now she is on just 100ml a day and we are hoping to get her off completely by her 4th birthday, if not before.

My dd is 18mths old so far diagnosed ..

silent aspirator-zero fluids by mouth has peg fitted,
Larengeal(sp) cleft(cleft on her voice box)
twisted windpipe,
bronchomalcia(only right lung affected)
Hydrocephulus mild,
Plagiocephaly,
Low muscle tone-just learnt to pull herself into standing position yay,
global devolpmental delay,

She also having problems gaining weight and we are unsure if she can eat lumpy/finger food safely so she on pureed diet until investigation done at end of month on lumpy/finger foods with her.

She on 800ml of paedisure a day 385ml via her pump at night, 2x 110 ml feeds via pump in day and 200ml on two weetabix at breakfast time sometimes she eats it sometimes she refuses xx

Great about the pulling herself up! That all sounds like a lot to cope with though. Hope you have good support x

janmumto5 · 12/01/2010 13:14

There is good support network among the professionals where we live family and friend support is zero tho my family dont believe my children have special needs wont help or babysit etc as they cant handle my boys behaviour and arnt willing to learn about any of my childrens conditions! x
