Same problem with my DS.
Had to get size seven pampers, they were the only ones that fitted, and i had a year of washing the bloody sheets every day before we got the bigger ones from the nurse. I think I got them in a local chemist, but not all supermarkets or boots do them, it's worth ringing around to see if they'r in stock, otherwise try huggies drynights which are bigger, but not enough for a whole night's worth of wee. I had to change DS before I went to bed sometimes, and they're 50p each.
But, since we got nappies from the nurse, (we get tena 'slips' )things have improved... immensley! and I did discover that pharamacy's can order them in... one kind place offered to do it for me. Try talking to a local chemist, who might be able to order some tena 'slips' for you - small would probably be enough, medium would fit me!
Otherwise, if you are near east london at all I have some. ([email protected]) DS is going nappy-free now because he reckons he can no piddle in the night . He suddenly decided, and so far in 6 weeks wee've had 6 dry nights, so HOORAY!! and loads of washing again, but hope is in sight!... I got so sick of heaving him around to change the nappy... back breaking work, as he's also above the lines on the chart.
But I am getting him up just before I go to bed to piddle in a bucket -- keep the bucket in his room otherwise it would all be too much... I can't actually wake him up, but I can pull him up in his sleep, get him out of bed to piddle in a bucket sitting down with me supporting him from behind. And he will actually do a wee in his sleep and then clamber back into bed all still asleep!
Maybe you could ask the nurse where you can get the nappies.... even if you have to pay it will be better than the eternal hunt for the right size, and the continual washing!
good luck! proper size nappies are a life changing find. Goodness knows how we would cope with terry nappies and a nappy pan!
I'll also pass on a tip I got from another mum which has given me the confidence to let DS go commando... put a bit of plastic sheet, or actually I use a bit of waterproof mattress cover over the child as well as under, so that the duvet doesn't get soaked every night.
And I'm putting DS in 2 pairs of pants and then pyjama's so that if he does a little piddle, his clothes will soak most of it up.
And, I know this is awful, but I've stopped washing the sheets for just little piddles... just letting them dry out. I figure he needs an incentive, and lovely clean sheets everyday are a bit of a luxury! But only if it's a small leak ...
