Children with underlying conditions not having 2nd SF jab

unless they have serious immunity problems, such as those on immunosuppressant drugs, etc.

Thats the latest here, most of dd2's sn class have not had the second jab because, as the school nurse said:
"we have had a very good take-up of the sf vaccination programme"

and

"it has proven to be effective enough in one dose"

She didn't mention the news last week that the second dose was far more likely to result in a temeprature!

But dd2 is apparently considered to be sufficiently immunity-compromised to need the second dose according to the paed so I will expect a hot and tearful girl home this afternoon.

hope it goes ok. It affected dd more the 2nd jab but was still v mild. Bit hot and snotty for a night about 1-2 days after

sickofsocalledexperts · 15/12/2009 17:36

My Ds seemed fine with both

DD had her 2nd last night and so far seems fine. Arm slightly sensitive.

we're still waiting for the first one, school havent done any yet and GP only has Pandemrix which ds cant have as he has an egg allergy, he has chronic lung disease so if he gets SF it'll totally floor him!

herjazz · 16/12/2009 00:30

are they giving the pandemrix one to kids then in yr area glittery? Must be scottish nhs thing. In england kids should be getting celvapan. There's loads of stocks of this as well. Twas what the nhs bought in vast quantities for everyone. Then the single pandemrix vaccine appeared at last minute and was decided on instead

suprised and shocked yr ds hasn't been offered the celvapan one yet. And cynical old me was thinking the excess stocks of this was big factor in the vaccinate all under 5's hysteria plan

glittery · 16/12/2009 10:01

no i think they are giving kids the Celvapan but ds goes to a school outwith our local area and they havent done any vaccines yet whereas all our local schools have been done.
Typical! maybe i should have kept him in our LEA!

So far so good, sore arm but no more (that sounds like a poem, doesn't it ) with the second dose.

They did the SN schools pronto when there was an outbreak in one sn school - think of all those professionals who go from special school to special school.

Glittery, does your ds have broncheactasis?

since i dont know what broncheactasis is i dont think so
one of the SN schools here shut for a week when a few kids got it and all the SN schhols and mainstreams in Lanarkshire have been done but Glasgow havent bothered doing theirs yet
