proud mummy and teacher moment

Last year, it was a huge achievement that DS2 (then 3.3) stayed in the hall and sat on the teacher's lap without crying during the nativity play.

Fast forward a year (so now 4.3) and the play came round again. This time he was a king! They all trooped in and he came straight over to me for a cuddle and took off his costume, but the teacher came and got him and he went back to the stage. Then he actually said his line: "follow the star"! And said one "unofficial" line too "I'm not standing up". He sang and signed all the songs and was truly wonderful.

The nursery leader came over afterwards and said "wasn't he marvellous?" and all I could say was "I know. Thank you" but I think she understood. She has helped him climb a huge mountain to get to this stage.

Now we just need to get the little bugger to stop screeching at mealtimes......

Ahhh Linglette that amazing progress! Gives me hope that my DS will do that next year! Well done to your DS

Thats amazing. You must be so proud of him.

DS2 refused to do his nativity play

Glad he did well, its such a relief when they manage to join in and be a part of special occassions.

I just got in from our Xmas coffee morning/concert, it did not go so well this year, DS2 had a big wobble and had to be removed from the stage (gently) by the headmaster and DS3 had his hands over his face the whole time his class were on. I must admit, a few tears ran down my face but...I won a lovely hamper of goodies at the end [happy] so will be able to reward the DS's with loads of treats when they get home as a reward for trying, they will be very chuffed as I am usually a bit of a food nazi about sugary stuff (and there is a bottle of wine in there too).

The other parents turning up for their annual dose of christmas sentiment without a worry have no idea the anxiety that churns around inside our heads on these occassions.

Ahh - Linglelette you must be very proud what a great little chap. Am hoping DD will be at the same stage as your little one next christmas - I suppose only time will tell

Well done linglette-let!! Last year DS (now 3.7) spent the entire xmas concert trying to escape from the stage - this year he remained on stage, clapped and bowed (didn't sing though), next year he may even join in. It has to be said, though, how many adults would like to stand and deliver in front of the baying crowds, flashing lights, screaming younger siblings?

linglette · 16/12/2009 12:24

well done sc13's DS. You're so right about the lights. I sat on the stage with DS2 after the show with the stage lights still on. I'm 39 and I found them overwhelming!

On the other hand, there was this little girl, 4 I think, who did a whole dancing number BY HERSELF. The next X-factor generation?
