Team Around the Child falsified minutes

I had the TAC on 12th October and didn't receive any minutes. Instead I received (5 weeks later) a Family Service Plan that had information in it that was implied to have been agreed at the meeting and a whole lot of other inaccurate nonsense.

I complained and was told it could not be changed. Only that I could submit my own attachment. I threatened with Information Comminssioners Office and got them to change only the first heading which said 'these people agreed and plan to work towards....' to 'attendees' and told them that I would annotate and circulate when I got them.

The then called me back and went through a few sections and we compromised a little bit but my dad, who was present also complained and he got a letter today.

The crux of his complaint was that he should have received minutes, not a family service plan, and that minutes are understood to be a record of a meeting that all present had agreed and signed off at some point.

Their response was that the Family Service Plan is a family-friendly approach that they have adopted under government guidelines and the parents have the right to write it themselves provided they make this clear at the beginning of the meeting.

Now, how the hell was I to know that they weren't going to write minutes but a family service plan which couldn't be changed if factually incorrect? And if the Family Service Plan is NOT minutes, then where are they, and can I have a copy?

Surely the fact that they didn't inform me of the process, or the nature of the minutes, or even that I had a right to write them myself should be rectified by allowing me to rewrite it from my own notes now, no?

Grrrrrrrr

Is that you Starlight? PMSL at the name

That's bloody terrible, how awful when you're expecting something constructive

FuckingNinkyNonk · 13/12/2009 00:37

Yes, tis I. Who be you?

Someone who ain't impressed by the British Summer?

Tisn't really awful. Tis just another bloody thing in the long list. I'm away for Christmas with limited internet access so the SN boards can have a rest from all my whinging for a bit.

I be Ninks formerly known as Ninkynork!

I'm new and will miss you when you go away for Christmas. I've only just arrived and you are a secure constant.

FuckingNinkyNonk · 13/12/2009 00:58

Oh, yep. Clocked you

Sorry you're over here too. Tis a lovely place actually but most would rather they didn't need it.

There's a lot of good stuff that goes on though so do stay. Thank you for your comment.

(won't be stealing your name for long - promise)

My sympathies! I had a TAC last month, the minutes of which took 3 weeks to do and they gave me an amendments deadline which was 1 month after the meeting, leaving me only 1 week to make them

I requested as much time as they'd had to write it, which was granted and now my response is as long as their minutes including cover letter

So you haven't gone to the IC yet? Perhaps that is next step if you have the energy and the outcome is worth it.

FuckingNinkyNonk · 13/12/2009 13:25

The IC say that it is difficult to say who said what, so the best I can hope for really is that they remove what I say I did of didn't say, not the removal of what 'they' did or didn't say iygwim.

However, I have made a written complaint and offered to write them myself promising to circulate them to all present for agreement, as should they have done. They can't argue with it (well the prolly will) but it shows them up for something to hide, and me for nothing to hide iyswim. I have copied in as many people in the council I could find that have had some dealings with writing the policy surrounding the TAC and Family Service Plan so that they can see how it isn't working.

This is one of the best uses I have for the shorthand I learnt 30 years ago! I write things down verbatim and tell them so, it freaks them out! I don't always do anything with it or transcribe it but they don't know that at the time, its insurance. Heh heh.

MistletoeNoelPresents · 13/12/2009 21:49

Starlight could you tape it, as they do with police questioning, everyone stating their name and role?

FuckingNinkyNonk · 16/12/2009 14:38

Is shorthand hard to learn? Sounds like a really useful skill.

I know that they wouldn't agree to taping. Also, perhaps I am being stupid, but I am still rather hoping that I can convince them to be helpful, particularly since I am prepared to pu in most of the work myself, but perhaps I'm chasing false hopes. I suppose I could ask and then record that they didn't agree. More evidence that they have things to hide I suppose.

Recording it does mean a transcript should be wholly accurate, if not a personal recorder in you bag and you typing it up after making copious notes ala FNN shorthand will maybe persuade them to play nicer?
