Hi, sorry i read not long ago in a thread about the timetimer (i think it was linglette) who was saying how great they are.
I would like to get one for ds but i'm unsure of where to get it from and can't find the thread which had a link about it.
Does anyone knows?

Also i am slowly building up a sensory box for ds, as advised by Bibic , have got a fair few bits but i'm running out of ideas, ds likes pressure, and enjoys strechy rubbery stuff to twirl tight around hands , fingers,...neck !!! So far all i found is a long strechy caterpillar that is safe for him to use.
I want to get him a soothing bedroom light/lamp as he loves looking and playing with lights, but don't know if a 'lava' lamp would be ok or a rotating lamp with a scene that projects onto walls (like aquarium lamp projector type) iyswim?

Any ideas welcome.
Thank you.

Forgot to say ds has a trampoline, so really want to get small sensory stuff for his box.
Have bought a big hugging Tiger soft toy, and i want to make it more heavy , is it ok to put dried lentils in it? anything else that may do the job?

Thanks.

Timetimer

www.specialdirect.com

www.thenoveltywarehouse.com

My timetimer arrived broken and i had to send it back.

I am currently using one of these www.amazon.co.uk/Salter-338Ssbkxr-Mechanical-Stainless-Countdown/dp/B000EW92Y4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s= kitchen&qid=1260435716&sr=8-1 ds can see the time disappearing and it rings when time is up.

It works really well for us and is much cheaper than a timetimer.

The Novelty Warehouse (2nd link) is very reasonably priced.

One of DS2's favourite "twiddle toys" is a pair of plastic salad tongs. He loves watching them open and close, and I have been known to carry a pair in my bag when out and about.

Also, if you go to one of those cheap book chops (The Works?), they sell some great twiddley things for 99p upwards.

Ikea were selling projector lamps recently, and a few sensory type lights, and they were quite reasonable as well.

Claw, that warehouse link is fantastic!

how fab

after thenoveltywarehouse, great

some fun looking stuff

have you thought of swimming weights (straps round wrists etc)

ds likes octopus massager over his back, shoulder.

we have a lava lamp, not v. save, i would never trust ds alone with it. thought this look good homemade lava lamp

mysonben · 11/12/2009 00:54

Thanks for ideas and all the links.
Brilliant...found lots of great stuff on noveltywarehouse site.
And checked out the homemade lavalamp bottle.
Since we have a newly opened ikea near us , will annoy dh for a 'justified' trip down there...

Make sure you get some of the kids plastic cutlery as well while you're there. DS2 hates metal in his mouth, and they are normal cutlery size. Only £1ish for a set of 6

Went to timetimer website , they have different sizes... can't decide which one to get.
The medium one (8 ins) seems a bit too big to use simply at home, but unsure if the smaller one will be clear enough.
I want to use it basically at home mainly to help with monitoring of ds's obsessive activities like watching dvd or playing wii, and also for trying to help him 'hurry' a bit when eating or doing other stuff (ds is so slowwwww, and doodle or fidget around, and saying you have 3 minutes left means nothing to him atm!)
Ladies which one did you get?

Thanks.
