Had parents night last night, as usual left feeling mildly depressed about teachers lowish expectations of DS2 (AS) (I think he is bright but he has dyslexia type issues which get in the way of success at school).

Going over my personal mantra of "he will get there in the end, be patient etc." when low and behold DS2, who is 8, picked up a banana and held an imaginary phone conversation, of course he then pretended it was a gun but hey! spontaneous iamginative play. I know it doesn't sound much but it was just the casual, natural way he did it that made me sit up and take notice.

He has been going to Saturday drama classes for a while, they seem do him good even though his "performances" can be quite quirky; at the end of term display the children had to mime eating a large toffee and then storing it for finishing later, queue DS2 miming bending over and inserting the toffee between his buttocks! DH overheard an old lady in front say "He's a real character isn't he". He certainly is .
