not sure yet, the one she has on trial is the TELLUS, but we are having another one on trial in January.

£8000! Thats a lot of money. Will you be able to get a grant for it?

Glad she likes it . What has she said so far?

2shoes · 08/12/2009 21:19

she asked for chocolate milk earlier
she uses head switches.....well she should do, but at home she wants to use the touch screen.
no grant, we will have to pay.

Eek! That is a lot to have to pay for yourself. Shall we have a charity Ebay auction, sell the unwanted christmas gifts we get

She'll be having teenage strops before you know it ;)

"ah well such is life, I lost a dad and dd will get a voice."

Wow, what a legacy though - to give someone a voice!

What sort of things does your DD like, 2shoes? What does she like to talk about?

coppertop · 08/12/2009 21:39

at £8,000!

I'm guessing dd will think it's worth its weight in gold if it gets her some chocolate milk on demand.

2shoes · 08/12/2009 21:42

food, food and food
tbh she has been so anti getting one, at the moment I am just letting her muck about on it, then she will realise(like asking for chocolate milk and getting it) that it is a good thing.
the one thing my dad always said is that he wished dd could talk, so it seems apt.

That's amazing

drlovesmincepies · 08/12/2009 21:50

wow 2shoes! , chocolate milk never sounded so good !

5inthesleighbed · 08/12/2009 21:51

What a lovely way of looking at something so tragic.
I'm sure your dad would be proud.

cloelia · 08/12/2009 22:00

i just had a wipe tear moment too. So pleased for you both. When you think what other people are stressing about on other threads tonight.... wish some of them could swop lives for a day with people like you.

Mitchell81 · 08/12/2009 22:00

Your dad would be very proud of your DD. Won't SALT or education fund a communication device??

tried having it put in her statement, I think they have a problem doing it round here, I don't know of anyone who has managed it.
Thanks Riven but I have the money.
she has used a communicatin book, which she loves. she has never wanted one before. so this is a new thing.
