DS with ASD nothing else?

DS is 3yrs 7mos and has a diagnosis for ASD for a year. We have been told that he is doing well (he has always been verbal, no obvoius need for routine, potty trained etc)and that nothing further is needed for him. He went to an Early Developmental Intervention Centre which he been discharged from, doesn't need SALT and since diagnosis he has seen the paed once and that was purely to talk to me to see how everything is going. She has confirmed he wont be seen again.

It is felt that his only deficit is his social skills ( he will answer the other dc but will not develop a conversation unlike with the adults but will play beside them and play games that involve running about)

He has a schedule at playschool and had an IEP which is to devlop social skills and to use scissors. Although he can cope without his schedule he does prefer it and it's helping him move from activity to activity as well as remaining there. He is also waiting to see an ed psch but his playschool don;t know if he is severe enough to be seen, although they are pushing for it.

Is it normal for a child with ASD just to be left? I admit I have no problems with him but I just think it's strange to be given such (in my eyes) a big diagnosis and then thats it. The other mums at his EDIC think it's strange. ( I have been told that if I do have problems to get in touch) but the mantra I was left with is 'if it's not broken don't fix it'

Sorry for rambling on but I just think it's a bit odd and wonder if this is a typical experience?
