Criteria
By physically disabled we mean any child under the age of 18 years, who is long-term and significantly disabled through a physical impairment of the musclo-skeletal, neurological or cardio-respiratory system of the body.
We regret that the following conditions on their own, do not meet the criteria of the Fund: psychiatric disorders, learning disabilities, behavioural disorders, development delay, Down?s Syndrome, autism, visual or hearing impairment, cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, HIV, back pain and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Who can apply?
We accept applications made on behalf of physically disabled children who are under the age of 18 years, and resident in Scotland.
What things can I apply for?
Anything that is not provided by statutory sources, e.g. washing machine, lycra suits, clothing. Grants cannot be made retrospectively. For holidays, if it is essential that a child must be accompanied, consideration will be given to the cost. Grants cannot be made retrospectively to any of the above.
How much can I apply for?
Grants of up to £500 may be considered. More may be granted in some circumstances.
How often are grants made?
Applications may be submitted once a year. However, it should not be assumed that funding will always be granted.
Who may sponsor the application?
Social Worker, GP, Health Visitor, District Nurse and Therapists may sponsor the application. Trainee workers and community care assistants may also apply, but a qualified person must countersign the application.
