Hi, dd2 has been having music therapy for a a year and a half, it has been a great success with dd2, she sang before she talked and she loves any kind of music. We are lucky because dd2 is at a sn nursery which has a music therapist on site twice a week (so we got it free on the NHS).

If you can get access to a music therapist its deffently worth a shot.

my ds has had music therapy on his statement since he was 3 now he's 13. he learned to speak through using music therapy techniques. It has helped heaps especially as he gets very anxious and can't always express himself with the appropriate language even though he speaks fluently. Very difficult to get it on a statement and had to appeal when they threatened to take it off on secondary transfer and the LEA relented. Your first point of call should be the association of music therapists (just google them) they have a list of music therpaists all over the country. A good book we used was music therapy for the autistic child by Juliette Alvin and Auriel Warwaick ISBN 978-0-09-816276-6. Definitely worth pursuing.
