Would like to know what happens at Paediatrician first home visit?

DS5 has Encopresis, VSD and sensory defensiveness (which he already sees sepcialists for). Went to the GP a few months ago to go over our application for the DLA, and at the time felt under pressure to accept a referral to the Paediatrician. We never really felt the need for this before as he sees fantastic specialists, and he really does get very stressed seeing any new doctors.

Anyway, we just got a letter giving us an appointment for a Paed Home Visit and we're wondering whether to go ahead or just cancel.

Can anyone please tell me what happens at this visit?

Thanks so much

We had a home visit from the community paed. it was about 9 years ago. It was a general chat about my daughter and who else she should see. It may be worth it if you can face it as he/she may have some useful suggestions.

I'm guessing it will the community paed, Here they are attached to childrens services at the local hospital but run clinics in the local towns & villages (& the occasional home visit).
Our paed is great, she is responsible for ds2's overall care, co-ordinates appnts, chases physio, salt etc if not doing their bit, she is always the person i name on his DLA form, was brilliant with telling the LEA a statement was needed.
She is also the named school doctor.

If you are happy that you are getting everything you need from the various profs then it may be you need very little from this paed, however its always worth a fresh opinion, you never know what he may have to offer.

I completely second Anonandlikeit's post: also a very good trump card to wave at social services when you need help - and if he/she has been to see your home circumstances (in my case, v untidy house and rampaging siblings ) then they can really back you up when asking for help.
