Ds is eight has severe autism sld and a host of other problems. He attends a special school.
He absolutely loves fresh orange juice and high juice cordial and will drink it if allowed by the gallon. We have taken to hiding the cordial becase he has found a way of chewing the lid so he can drink it neat !!
The last two evenings he has found the hiding place and as a consequence now has very loose bowel movements.
He is continent of urine but wears nappies for poos.
I got a phone call from the school nurse today saying he has diorreah (sp) and I would have to collect him and keep him off school tom. wWhilst I was there he did a poo in his pants which although a bit sloppy was formed and not runny.
I have spoken to school on many occassions about the fact that he needs to have the option of putting a nappy on and have them available for him to get, he is non verbal.
I have this evening taken him to see our GP who has written a letter stating that this is a dietary issue and that he is certain that he is not contagious.
We are due to have respiter for the whole weekend as we have a family wedding on Sat and my dd and I are bridesmaids.
Should I send him to school tom in a nappy or keep him off?
Bearing in mind if I keep him off school I will have to cancel the respite.
Opinions welcome, oh and he is fine in himself full of beans and has just eaten a massive bowl of spag bol.
Thank you
