dd4 is a mixed bag of tricks lol. mo other way to describe her.

she is 1 year old.

has allergies to milk, eggs and peanuts. has had breathing differculties (possibly asthma, too young to diagnose), mild-moderate eczema.

Also has low tone, hypermobility and hyperflexiability.

I havent claimed. I have no idea if i should try.

she is very 'loose' jointed, and moves freely. she is at risk of dislocation so i just handle her with care. she was late crawling rolling etc but still just within normal range.

her diet is a pain. i spend ages shopping and checking every label. she doesnt eat anything without my say so and checking of labels. trying to make sure she eats well is hard. her weight did dip low but is now back up.

the only problem that she causes me, in regards to her care, is that i figured out her legs bother her. she stops screaming if i massage her legs.

Well, the test is 'needs more care or attention than other children of the same age'. You have just shown that is true. The only thing is that the care/attention has to total at least 1hr per day at least. So you will need to explain in detail what you do, step by step. When you shop, when you cook, what happens if you don't. How long you massage for.

i would
if compared to a "normal" child her age sh needs more care.

PersonalClown · 25/11/2009 16:57

You really needed to ask??

You know she needs more care than a 'normal' child in comparison.

No harm in applying is there?? You should be an expert by now.

I'd give it ago. You are probably doing more than you realise if you stop and think about it. You spend time massaging which others don't, you spend ages checking foods which other don't, it all adds up. You might not see these things as a 'problem' but they are things that would cause problems if you didn't do it. Go for it, and good luck!

misdee · 25/11/2009 17:42

blimey i expected a resounding no lol.

i am used to allergies, though cats v v v rarely come up on ingrediants lists lol.

i am used to bendy children. dd1+2 are both flexiable. dd4 more so. you can feel her joints 'give' when you pick her up. you dont pick her up under the arms like a normalo child, but just under, as otherwise her arms flip up and out.

the thought of the forms bug me though. i just dont think i can sit there and highlight all her 'bad points'.

there is a small chance she'll need peidrotype boots once she starts walking as her ankles roll, so would that have more clout? should i wait?

Crumbs your DD sounds like a female version of my 6 yr old son! Apply for DLA, the HMS alone qualifies once they are over 3 but it's almost a given that they'll turn you down, but award it when you appeal. Do you get any of her food on prescription, my 7 yr old is coeliac and I'm fighting my PCT on that 1 ATM.

misdee · 26/11/2009 14:06

she has a milk perscribed (nutramigen)but wont take it, so is fully breastfed still.

Misdee, you know what DLa are like anyway- claim, they'll happily say no if she shouldn't get it (!!!!)

I didn't realise your DD4 had all these problems- hugs.DS4 has some of the allergy issues (no milk, we'vegot him on gluten now from no-eeating desperation but seems to be triggering ASD symptoms so he will be off it when I can shop again.DS2 being referred atm for DCDso no hurry to get another one in the system

Good to see you on here though, been a long time- was thinking about That Long Night the other day when a transplant ad came on and wondered how you were doing.

Peachy · 26/11/2009 14:24

(we'realso still doing the BF coz won't take any milk substitutes at 20 months)

misdee · 26/11/2009 14:56

thanks

we only fouind out in the last month or so that dd4 might have problems. she was crawling funny, with one leg tucked beneath her, and one behind her. i spoke to HV who pulled her about a bit, told me to see GP, who in turn referred us to orthapaedics. we saw the orthapedics two weeks ago, and they have confirmed what i thought, which was low muscle tone, hypermobility and hyperflexiability. dd1 has hypermobility and hyperflexiability but it doesnt hold her back at all. she wants to start Gym l;essons, and i think we should do that as she is very supple. she can do most of these beighton score

DH can do all those Misdee, when we went to BIBIC they were astounded as he was the first adult W sitter that they had ever encountered. it doesn't affect him though (exceptwhen dancing, DH dancing is a spectator sport )
