still considered as a diagnosis in the UK does anybody know?? DD 3.5 is currently under assesment (ASD) so I have been doing lots of reseach where I came across Semantic Pragmatic Disorder (which describes my DD quite accurately) and PDD-NOS. I have not heard these terms frequently used(although I do understand them to be on the spectrum) which led me to this question. Thanks

Hi,

My understanding of 'semantic-pragmatic disorder' is pretty much what LeonieDelt said.
It is the language of HFA /AS, and is 'one' of the symptom/impairment within the triad.

PDD-NOS is commonly used in the US as a dx for children who have asd but do not fit 'perfectly' any other criteria.
They often have less symptoms/traits and do not tick all of the boxes.
It is much less used here in the UK, i think here the general ASD dx is given more often than PDD-NOS for children who fit that criteria. (Although i'm not absolutely 100% certain on that last point!)

It can be a bit confusing...
