how many "little problems" can a small child have ? .....am begining to think this is just getting stupid.
DD4 has learning difficulties , GDD/suspected autism , "failure to thrive" as infant- (now decided by doctors that shes just tiny and is the way shes ment to be , eh? well hello !!!! both her parents are about 5" ish!!!!! ,hypermetropia (vision problems with squint)and now weve been told she has hypermobility too!.
im begining to dread her appointments ,incase her peadi finds something else!
best bit is he didnt explain what hypermobility is ....just said when he say her at last appoint..
can someone please explain it a bit?.doc mentioned it after looking at dd4`s joints/hands/feet

DD2 has hypermetropia blurred vision, longsightedness and squint she is also hypermobile. which means she has the ability to extend her joints beyond the normal range. best example is that she sleeps doing the slips with her body flat to the bed.

fluffy - omg! your dd sounds like mine! . does yours have asd/gdd as well? ... just wondered if its a "trait" , or something else?
is the hypermetropia connected to the hypermobility?.
DH thinks we should either sell dd4 to a circus as a contorsionist or send her to russia so she can become a world class gymnast....

she has gross motor delays. i dont know never thought that. it may be linked?.
she has some behavioural probs, but she is just 19months so think the drs waiting to see how things pann out with her.
Maybe we could sell them as a double act

ooh defo go for the contortionist!

ds is 7 and this summer managed to get his whole body into a kids washign machine - through a 14" circular hole into a small box. I wondered where he had gone, and his head popped out!

From the HMSA website -

Connective tissue proteins such as collagen give the body its intrinsic toughness. When they are differently formed, the results are mainly felt in the "moving parts" - the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments - which are laxer and more fragile than is the case for most people. The result is joint laxity with hypermobility and with it comes vulnerability to the effects of injury

Fluffy- thats how dd1 sleeps and she sits on the floor like a frog, we are waiting for a refferal from the school nurse as i was worried about how slow she is on her feet and how bendy she is. Dd1 has a dx of Aspergers but i was starting to think she had dysprexia although she doesn't tick many of the boxes, maybe its just hypermobility?

lol @ chops !

Marne- Yes dd used to sit like that. managed to discourage it. but still sleeps like i said (well when she does sleep)
her paed was too looking at dyspraxia but i think she is the opposite to "clumsy" and is way over cautious.
