just need to know what services are like for our children really. Ds has Angelman syndrome-non verbal, incontinent x 2, wears piedro boots etc. Does anyone know if he will still get boots and nappies or direct payments/respite etc or do I have to start fighting for them now????

bump. not sure if you would end up coming to Liverpool for any of these services; a friend gets Piedro boots for her DD from Orthotics at Alder Hey in Liverpool, she has always seemed reasonably happy with the service there.

Hi,we're at completely the other end of Wales but would both fall under Welsh services

Regionally things vary,as with everywhere; I would speak to someone in a support group fopr feedback on that- for example with our DX I know places in Wales vary enormously, as indeed does the population whcih often dictates services.

Otherwise much is the same, instead of OFSTED you'll need to use ESTYN for school information, and sometimes various initiatives like healthy start etc aren't available ehre (no snack wheels, horrow !).

Pretty mcuh everything elsecomes under England rules though- DLA etc. Except we get free rpescriptions, don't necessarily have JO school meal standards, and the Assmebly dicatte a lot of action plans for different initiatives.

Presumably you'll be at Ysbyty Gwynedd? When we moved house I got all the referrals across done in advance and we had first meeting with the new paed before we'd moved - it might be worth talking to the paeds department there because they should be able to give you all the initial contacts and may be able to answer many of those questions for you. Local branch of Carers' UK will tell you what SS are like, though from my experience of Flintshire, not so good. I'm saying start with NHS because I imagine the transfer will be smoother in Health than in Care, I shouldn't think anyone in Care will answer the phone to you till you are actually resident.

Thanks all. going on Thursday to look at new school (hopefully)-Ysgol y Bont-looks ok and head sounds nice. He said it should be an easy transition re education. Not sure about the rest. We will be under ysbyty gwynedd but the Anglesey childrens specialist team. guess we'll have to wait and see and keep everything crossed
