BIBIC--worth using for non ASD children?

I've seen some threads about BIBIC but haven't noticed any for non-ASD children. DD has GDD/SLD--anyone had positive experience with similar issues? Apologies if I have missed a relevant thread...

What sort of gaps did they identify if you dont mind me asking? Am currently contemplating taking DS for an assessment there. Have been sent the BIBIC pack but wondered if its a worthwhile thing to pursue.

We too have an appt with them on 3/4th dec. We are arranging for an Ed Psych too, huge difficulties here with statementing.

So do tell, share the goss, would love to catchup!

They're not ASD focussed at all- the first few famillies I came across using them (had links many years ago) were famillies with a CP child. They also have a lot of kids with DS when we have visted, and I know they have always taken a wide range- long before asd was a common DX (I grew up very close to BIBIC, and worked in a related field when we lived there, also attended college with the old bosses daughter).

They have specialist ASD worker (s) now but they really are not geared up to any dx- they have the equiopment for physically disabled kids around the palce as well as stuff for general LD and that appeals to all.

Riv, did you go to BIBIC? i thought you went to Brainwave? Mustn't confuse the two, they don't like it (big fall out in management 9reputedly) aused the separation and they are not the same now)

I've seen a girl with CP at the level of Riv's dd2 learn to smile after brainwave therapy- a small step but incredible for her father nonetheless. I think she learned to sip as well, but after I stopped working with her.

Is BIBIC private/expensive? (sorry not helpful)

Used to be, but now only charge admin apparently (around a £100 IIRC?)

We gor funsing for ds3 from children in need, and from another agency for ds1

Whats Brainwave? Is that more geared for ASD?

Similar thging, caters for both.Used to eb (IIRC) the Kerland Foundation- both based either side of the same town, come from the same root but split a good few yeras ago now.

I've never experienced them with ASD kids, only with children with CP, but I do think its always worth giving them a call. I went there on a few visits and found BIBIC suited me best but we're all looking for different things after all.

Only £50--that makes a difference. Thought it was £500.

How are you getting on?

Arabica, they changed over in April 2009, so it is all free except a £50 admin charge for each visit. Amazing considering they say that it costs them £2487 to assess each child.
