been looking into treatment for retained reflexes. Found BIRD and the Institute for Neuro-physiological Psychology.

anyone have any experience of either or know what the differences are?

also anyone know anybody who does this near london/herts so I don't have to go to Chester?
Thanks

We have an INPP practitioner near us (SW) so I wonder if there are other local therapists? Maybe the Chester centre would be able to help?

We are thinking of using the INPP therapy programme for DS1 (8) who has dyspraxia - just have to save up!

thanks for your posts. i have been to the sound learning centre but wasn't that impressed. Glad it worked well for you. I have been in touch with the INPP today and they say that you can go to chester for the initial assessments then the following appts can be in London as they come down regularly to do clinics near Euston.

Peter Blythe was telling me how the BIRD developed out of the INPP and he didn't want to become a charity himself as he didn't want a board of governors dictating what he did. He says they use a technique that the INPP used in the 70s but he feels the programme they have now at the INPP has incorporated a lot more of recent research etc. INPP also uses auditory reprograming techniques (He gave me a history of the whole field and they various techniques but can't remember the details)

Still investigating but feeling optimistic that it might help DS. Especially as they can do the auditory stuff at the same time.

I'll be very interested to hear how you get on - keep us posted!

Hi : To treat retained reflexes, can someone please compare the brushing technique with the INPP method?
Thank you

We are visiting here:

www.hemispheres.org.uk/index.asp

tomorrow for our first assessment. Someone on here recommended them and after speaking to them I'm really looking forward to it.

We spoke to INPP in Chester but DD2 is too young, they only deal with children over 7ish.

Sorry, my point also is that they have a clinic in St Albans and London which may be easier for you.

we found a sensory trained OT and got exercises frem her.
