Dyslexia programmes

Hi has any one out there tried any of the many therapies/programmes for dyslexics I am currently looking at three different things all very expensive and time consuming. any feedback welcome.

I,m looking at the ddat centre at the moment and trying to find people who have used them. They seem brilliant but like you say are very expensive
Let me know if you find any info on treatments

I am looking at brightstar, Raviv Method and Davis technique, but finding anyone that has used them is very difficult.

Tutor has child that did DDAT it went on for longer than expected and child still has same problems, but maybe the childs view was different.

I just worry that you make the child feel like a freak dragging them to all these different quacks!

And which one is the right one? do you just work through the lot at huge expense or do you carry on with the extra tuition and encouraging them at home. All these treatments seem to cost thousands and lets face it we all want a magic wand. I am just not convinced by any of them yet.

Jack1, I have mentioned this in another post (see Education section). There is a school in the south of England that is a specialist school for dyslexics and one of the things they use is a reading method called Phono-Graphix, as outlined in the book Reading Reflex.

I have no personal experience of dyslexia but have read a bit on how children learn to read and the importance of using a phonetic system with dyslexia children comes up a lot.

does anyone know of any really good computer software for dyslexics my daughter is 7(yr 2) but is at the stage of reception she loves the computer
