hello, this is my first time putting a message on and I have no idea whether it will work. I have a son aged 3.6 who has a speech and language delay and maybe asd. I am really keen to help him with potty training. Are there any good books or suggestions that anyone might know?

Has anyone come across this ? I really need to give Ds2 a good try at potty training but he has poor body awareness so I thought it might help. Has anyone tried it or heard of it? (Don't laugh )

I don't know if those of you with autistic children might find it useful?

We have this one here

It's nice and sturdy. But the musical element of it drove us mad. I suppose it was about last September when we first got it, but all dd AND ds wanted to do was stuff things in the potty to activate the music.

DD does however sit on her "throne" very nicely now without any music!

Thanks Dingle, I was looking at the Fisher Price potties also, but these people also sell just the sensor which you can fit in the child's pants so they associate the music with weeing. Apparently they are developing disposable musical pants but in the meantime they will sell the sensor. It says the idea came from a therapist in USA who took the sensor out of the potty and used it to help train autistic children. Just wondered if anyone had heard of that or might find it useful? (the lengths we go to.....)

I'm not sure whether it would help Ds2 as he seems to have an in-built sense of toilet humour and roars with laughter at any mention of wees, poos, bottom etc etc He would probably just starting wetting himself for the laugh
