I have been cutting Ds 4 hair in his sleep during his day time nap. Now we have cut the naps for the new melatonin regime. I dont know how I will cut it anymore. What do you do?

his hair after lots of tears is now all one length so every 2 weeks i can keep on top of it with scissors and keep it even and neat with no tears in bath with scissors

if hair is really long you would need to take most length off with scissors first as it would pull and snag if clippers put straight through

No idea if this will help anyone but I have a set of home use clippers that I'm not planning to use for real. I used them when DS1 was younger to de sensitise him to the sound of clippers. I would just leave them running in the room as background noise. Can mail them out to anyone who would like them.

Cordless clippers and a full on wrestle with mummy chanting haircut first chocolate after. He then gets straight in the bath not letting go of the chocolate so that melts. He gets upset about that and the hair cut is forgotten

I have the same problems with hair and nails with dd2. She is terrified of the scissors. She has a fringe (sort of) and it's a nightmare!

Hi Bubbla - will post the clippers to you

(1) When I get them out of the cupboard under the stairs (and if all the other stuff falling out does not knock me unconscious)

(2) When I can get to a Post Office - as we all know, a vanishing species these days

(3) When I get your address - Can you send it to

[email protected]

No charge - I used your idea of the Autism Passport and have one ready for when DS1 starts school in 2 weeks. I now know it's a common thing but I had never heard of it until you posted it in.

weve tried all sorts and now i just sit him on a chair, thn sit on top of him but weight of me not all on him if you get me as my feet on floor, then i pin him down and clipper it, i hate having to do it to him but its over and done with quick enough. i do it very short though so let it grow a lot before needs it again, get away with about every 2 months if im lucky!

Know where you are coming from. Son would not go to barbers. they really tried but husband ended up chasing him round barbers shop. (ha ha, he kept telling me that he would be able to sort it out and wondered why i always made such a drama out of it!!). Have bought 3 sets of clippers the latest ones are really quiet. Just get him outside in the garden and usually in a headlock!!! I know it sounds awful. he is getting better cos we usually bribe with something he really wants. Also got my nieces to do it, they all thought it was great fun!! At one time also had to cut my best friends husbands hair before he would have his cut!!! The things we try. He needs a haircut now, just waiting for a calm day. Most of the time get an OK haircut. Its never perfect but hey-ho just do what we can in the time!
