went to CAMHS today.

they have dx,d her with Social and Communication Difficulties.

As she has some of the features of ASD but not enough for a full dx,

hmm i said,why not PDD-NOS?

they said its because they are thinking along the lines of AS,but as she is young they want to give it longer, they still want to keep her on their "books" though and monitor her.

So,

there will be a multi agency meeting in school, and the Ed Psych is to go in, also they are asking the additional needs team who specialise in working with children with an ASD to go in as DD needs help with communication etc.

They are recommending school help her on a 1-2-1 basis and in a small group with her social skills, but she said to me she thinks we,d struggle to get her statemented as most of her behaviour she displays at home, i was a bit she,d said that as i dont think its her dept but hey ho.

So we are pleased that finally after much messing around they are recognising DD has these issues and although we would have preferred a firm dx,we are happy that they are taking our concerns seriously and that finally she will be getting some help.

if i rewind to this time last year when we lost the tribunal and in the words of the Ed Psych who said that DD had NO social and communication difficulties and that i was seeing things that werent there, well i feel like phoning her up and saying i told you so,but i wont!!!!!

What a relief for you, Jenk. I can identify with the 'sort of' diagnosis. DD has been dx with cortical dysplasia, but it doesn't tell us much more than her brain isn't quite right, which we had kind of figured given that she has GDD! I am glad that you will get assistance now.

Congratulations, I guess? I mean, not a full dx, but recognition that you're not making it up, and positive in that they will monitor her. Hope you/she get some more help now!

Great (?) news Jenk. Glad you've finally got somewhere and that

thanks brioche lou and 5, tbh its not really what we wanted,we wanted a firm dx,but its better than nothing.

hopefully things will be put into place now for her transition into year 1 in september.

Hello, i'm new here to this forum. I read your post with interest, as i think we are going to have the same problems as you. My son is 3 and 1/2 years old and has an important speech delay, besides he shows some 'mild autistic traits' words of his pead. He has trouble understanding and following commands, also is a bit of a 'loner' at nursery although he has improved in the last 3 months or so.
But we have been told to wait a few months and then review the need for an autistic assesment!!!
