Hi everyone,

We have been doing some biomedical treatments with my son and we have managed to help him with so many different aspects.

However we can not find anything at all that helps with his anxiety.
I am considering asking his doctor for possible medication (but this really is not something that I want to do).

His anxiety levels are pretty bad. He is afraid of so many things. There is this one advert on the TV where if he sees it he covers his ears running and screaming continuously, the advert is a cartoon with a talking belly button. He has this same reaction with so many things (Jack in the box, balloons, computer games, aeroplanes etc.) Me and his Dad worry when he does this as he is likely to hurt himself running into things.
Also It breaks my heart that he could be doing this at school.

He has just started being bullied at school (we only found out yesterday when he came home with soil in his hair and ears). He says the other boys were throwing it at him. The teacher came out to tell me that he had been cring in Gardening class because he had soil on his hands (she did not know about the other boys). When we asked DS why he did not tell the teacher about the naughty boys he said that its because he is trying to make friends Now I have to wait a week to take this up with the teacher, but I feel that this is just the start of things to come.

My DS avoids so many things and it is making him more and more alone socially.

It seems that the anxiety is becoming worse and worse as he is getting older. Also I am now starting to wonder if he will be able to manage the demands of school next year as they begin swimming lessons.

Does anybody give their children any supplements, Medication or therapy of any kind to help with anxiety?
I have read that the 'B' vitamins are especially good for anxiety, but he already has these in his Kirkmans multivitamin.

Any advice totally appreciated...

Ds (4) is also getting more anxious as he is getting older He covers his ears at anything he finds scary- teletubbies, roly mo show etc the benecol advert?!, water certain noises etc.

There have been a lot of different things that are supposed to help with anxiety- massage, magnesium, hydrotherapy, pets (stroking dogs etc), epsom salt baths I haven't tried any of these things properly to say if they are effective. Also CBT might work depending on your Ds level of understanding/ cooperation.

Staryeyed, telletubbies was actually the first thing we saw our DS was frightened of and he was only about 8 months. Watching some of them I can see where the nervousness comes from.

I do use Epsom bath salts for DS this does help him become more alert and 'with us'.

I find the best supplement that helps overall are the fish oils. Since starting these we now have almost perfect eye contact and much clearer communication, amongst many other things. Yet since all these things have improved the anxiety is worse or maybe he is just more able to express his fears.

I do find it is worse when he is tired (he is not the best sleeper).
