Every professional actually involved in my dd's life has said we are fully entitled to DLA. We applied according to their advice and filled out their ridiculous 3 hour long form online only for it to be rejected!!!!! I am absolutely gobsmacked!!! They said that they couldn't see that she needed support during the day or that she had trouble walking which is ludicrous. I have asked for them to send me the info they received from the professionals but apparently they take 10-12 days to send it whch is such a joke. There's no-one there who can actually see what the reports say, can advise or anything. The whole system seems to be a complete joke as I know so many people (clients at the bank) who are fraudulently claiming incapacity and DLA and we are 100% genuine. Is there anywhere I can go to get help with my claim or can get advice as to where we've gone wrong?

Every area is different but in our county there is a new money advice unit (who will help with DLA forms and appeals) as part of the disabilty team. I wonder if you have a similar person there? She came to check my form and changed a lot ( adding those little details I had not thought to put in). I suspect we may have been rejected without her assistance.
I think it is useful to know what to say and how to phrase it. As parents we are naturally positive about our children and that can be misunderstood.
Good luck!

I got help from the local carer's resource in our town, they came and practically filled in the form for us! They were fab, it's worth looking to see if there is an organisation like that in your area.

Sorry they are being a pain

i got help with mine from friend who's a mental health nurse, she does them all the time for "clients". the trick is to put down everything, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem, as you have to show the whole picture about your DC.my DD4 needs 24 hour supervision as she has no sense of danger and would happily play with sharps and plug sockets and drink cleaning products if she was left alone ,even for a minute... am i right in understanding your dc cant walk too well?, my dd4 can walk, but she cant go far without becoming exhausted, and she wanders onto oncoming traffic so is still in a buggy for her own saftey .if you compare your dc to an averedge child of the same age , you'll see the differences, write them all down, no matter how small...and also everything you do for your dc, even teeth brushing and bum wiping.... it all goes to show a picture... good luck x
