Did your childs teacher/senco attend your CDAC?

DD1 has a appointment at the CDC in 2 weeks to be assessed for ASD. I called the school to ask for the report that cdc requested in their letter, and was told senco would send report to cdc and when i asked for a copy, they said they would ask, but didnt think i can!!! Also told me that no one is avilable for the appointment either! Is this normal practice?

don't think it is usual for teacher to go to the appointment at all. it's more common that if say salt or ed psych observe the child in school they would talk to teacher then (or if not they would just go on the report. Very at them not wanting you to see school's report though.

I'm a SENCO and have never been "invited" to attend.

ds2's pre school senco did & his teacher did for one session just so that she could meet all the profs in one place.
Sadly he is too old for the CDC now & about to be expelled handed over to someone else.

The Area SENCO attended meetings when mine were pre-school age but not the school SENCO.

I would've thought that if a copy of the letter/report had gone on your dd's school file then they would have to let you see a copy of it. You might have to give them a certain amount of notice and pay for photocopying but legally I think they have to let you see any information they have about your child.

When the Paed gave us a copy of the assessment report, it included copies of everything that had been submitted as part of the assessment, including the pre-school's report.

no senco never attended, but I had access to all reports about my children

lisad123 · 16/05/2009 22:03

thats what I dont get, I used to work for ss, and always showed reports to families even if i knew they wouldnt like it. Also gave them space to write their feelings about reports too. Its just good practice imo. I will call inot office and ask for report and if they get funny will throw data act at them
Is it a good idea to make lists before hand? Will they just chat and observe?
How much did you tell your kids before hand?
