yes on 15th June I am going to look round the 6th form college that I don't want dd to go to, but the LEA do.
dd is at an sn school that has it's own(she has been there since nursery and it has everything)so I want her to go there, but it turns out it is an idependanet school!!

You have to go and look don't you? Especially if you want to gather evidence about why it won't meet her needs. That is what to keep in mined, I'm sure you know, look for why the other college won't meet her needs and the current placement will. Remember they don't have to provide "best" placement, just "reasonable" and meet needs. Good luck, argh!

I know and I have been told to just look at the educational side!!!
that is the silly bit as if dd doesn't have phisio, salt, and all the other stuff her health will suffer and she won't be able to communicate

according to Bromley case on ipsea website, OT, physio and SALT can be educational and go in Part 3 of the Statement.

good luck and I guess it's a case of having a copy of her statement and going through it and being able to say why the college isn't suitable.

On Tuesday I'm going to look at the college I want ds to go to. We have talked about That College (think you know which one) for years, and I just want to be sure that it IS what we all want before launching The Battle. (There's still a teeny tiny part of me that thinks I might storm out saying 'Over my dead body'.)
We are a year early aren't we?
Aren't we supposed to view them in summer of Year 10 and apply in autumn term Year 11, interview in spring term of Year 11 and then get our decisions summer term, which will of course mean we shall have hardly any time to appeal if necessary. That seems to be the way it works in this borough.

I am going to make sure I know by when she is 15. springlamb what area are you in?

Croydon.
That College knows we are a year early and has agreed that we can saunter around with the other 'proper' families and pretend!

Thery're cheeky gits. Is this so that they can get rid of her Statement, as they can't have one at college? Is it all about money? Or do they genuinely think it's a better place?

springlamb · 15/05/2009 17:35

It will be school time, god pointless otherwise. But we are to pretend we are interested in a place for Sept 2010, rather than Sept 2011. This place has quite strict admissions policy, but I can't be hanging around till next year to know if it's a 'goer' so to speak. I will look at the LEA's suggestions next term, but tbh I don't think ds has a big enough knife for the 6th forms/colleges round here.
I would rather employ him on an apprenticeship myself and send him to college part-time I think!

givemesleeporgivemechocolate no tis all about money,
the local sodding LEA were the ones who sent her to the school she is at, yet now they say it is too expensive(and out of area)at her school she is a big fish in a small pond at the moment and very happy. her school(god I wish I could name it, as it would all make sense) has *everything on site, all the therapists and they have a mediacla centre there so doctors and nurse on call, hydro pool, oh and engineers(so if her chair goes wron it can be sorted pretty quick)
