We are thinking of getting a private OT to work with dd2, have any of you gone private and how much will it cost?

We haven't actually gone down the private route as the NHS came good at the last moment but I did contact an OT to find out about prices and even if it was a possibility.

It was about 3 yrs ago and I know for sure the intial assessment was £250 and I think the sessions were about £40 each but I can't be 100% about that. I think that was for once a fortnight sessions.

Thanks Niecie, i am trying to find out how long we will need to wait for NHS before going down the private route but from what i have been told there is a very long wait.

£60 per hour in Northants, but she was worth it. We stopped private OT after getting to the top of the NHS waiting list

Is it worth a try to contact the Paed who referred you to get pushed up the list?

We saw her paed yesterday which is one of the reasons we want to go private, theres no way she would push us up the list as she thinks dd's sensory problems are just something you have to put up with with autism (she's not a nice person).

I have contacted one OT who has quoted 160 pounds for a assesment but didn't say how much per session, they also said they could see her in half term which would be great. I just need to talk it through with dh to see if we can afford it.

We pay £65/session. There was no additional charge for an assessment, but we use a physio in the same centre. We had to wait just over 3 months to get to the top of their waiting list (there are 2 OTs).
She's been fantastic.
NHS is every 6 weeks and very hands-off (just a chat about my "concerns") because they'll see him so seldom. Took months to get to top of list and he's an "urgent" case.
